Introduction to Second Edition
Since Peter Grant wrote the excellent first edition
of this Book twenty years ago, much has changed in rural life, quite a bit has
changed in the Village, and a lot of water has flowed under the Three Bridges.
We considered various options from a
small addendum to a full re-write but eventually decided to retain Peter’s
original structure with new material and additions here and there, and a couple
of entirely new chapters to cover events during the last forty years and a Mini
Census to list all the properties and their owners in 2015, the 800th
Anniversary of the first mention that we can find of ELKSTONES.
We also decided to re-publish the
original Book because there has been so much interest since the first print ran
out.
